Heavy Vehicle Mechanical ApprenticeWe currently have a vacancy for a 1st year Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Apprentice to join our team based in Riverwood.

Punchbowl Bus Company is a family-owned business that has serviced the Hurstville/ Bankstown area for over 70 years. The company operates a fleet in excess of 100 vehicles and has more than 150 employees.

Punchbowl Bus Company operates under contract to Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to provide bus services in Sydney's south and south west (Region 5).

Our bus services enable commuters to get to and from their place of work, students to get to school and university and the community (Both residents and visitors) to travel to social, sporting and recreational events.

The successful applicant will learn how to repair, maintain and test motor vehicle and other internal combustion engines and related mechanical components performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations.

Applicants must:

  • Be passionate about working in the Automotive Industry,
  • Be dedicated to completing Certificate Ill in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology,
  • Be committed to the four-year Apprenticeship,
  • Have a high attention to detail,
  • Work well in a team environment,
  • Be able to follow instructions,
  • Have Driver License,
  • Be reliable and
  • Have completed CareerGate 3 - General Aptitude Assessment.

Bus Drivers

If you like:

  • A good driving history
  • No criminal convictions in the past 10 years
  • A valid “MR” license (minimum)
  • A valid Working With Children Check (WWC)
  • A valid NSW Bus Driver Authority

  • Demonstrated customer service skills.

Formalities and Regulations

Australian Driver's License

In NSW, a 'Class MR' or higher licence is required to drive a rigid vehicle with two axles and a GVM of more than 8 tonnes.

Driver Authority

If driving passengers for a fare or other form of payment, a Public Passenger Vehicle Driver Authority is required.

Working with Children Check

The Working With Children Check (WWCC) is a requirement for anyone who works or volunteers in child-related work in NSW. You can apply online for your WWCC and you will need to pay the fee.
